Kona Kase Review - Perfect for Active Lifestyles!

Last month we received the July Kona Kase to review.
Kona Kase is a monthly subscription service filled with products that are perfect for your active lifestyle!

With the hubby and I really trying to work-out more, eat better and over-all have a healthier lifestyle - I thought Kona Kase was a perfect fit. Our box was filled different snacks that we hadn't seen before...we both loved the Garuka Bars (they are so good), Chris was all over the Enjoy Life snacks and I really liked the Perky Jerky!

I love the Kona Kase story - It’s May 2012. We were running the Relay (200 team relay from Calistoga, CA to Santa Cruz, CA) and found ourselves sitting in the back of an Econoline van eating tortilla chips and slices of provolone cheese to fuel up before the race. We were tired of eating the same old boring energy bars, but finding similarly healthy alternatives wasn’t easy.

Everyone on our team was talking about these great but relatively small or unknown brands they had heard of but couldn’t find. We knew there had to be a better way to discover awesome nutritional products than scouring local health shops or fitness websites or reading tons of product reviews and nutritional labels trying to separate the good from the bad.

We wanted to create a platform where runners, cyclists, swimmers, and yoga/Crossfit aficionados could sample different brands from around the country to find what works best for them. And so, Kona Kase was born.

You can get your own case starting at $15 a month - get big discounts for ordering 3.6 and 12 month shipments. Kona Kase is perfect for runners or anyone that is tired of the same old protein bars you find in the grocery store.

From Kona Kase:  Every month, we deliver you top tier nutritional products to help you achieve their nutritional and fitness goals. Whether you simply want to learn to run a mile without passing out or you’re training for your third Ironman Triathalon, we’ve got you covered. We taste, we test, and we send only the best right to your door step. If we don’t love it, you don’t get it.

Visit Kona Kase online to order your own box - you won't be disappointed with these!
AND....just for you.....click on THIS LINK and you can get $5 off your first purchase! Making your first box just $10!
You can also find them on Facebook

(I was given a Kona Kase to review. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are 100% mine.)

Weigh In Time + Giveaways + And My Top Posts

I'm pretty sure the scale is not going to be my friend this week.
First of all, I hurt myself at the beginning of last week.
My foot has been killing me.
So I haven't been on the treadmill
and in turn haven't been making good food choices either

and to top it all off,
it was my birthday this past Thursday
and we pretty much threw caution to the wind all weekend.

Needless to say
I am not looking forward to this

When I started, I weighed in at 176
I weighed in two weeks ago at 172

Today...I'm at 172.

At least it isn't going back up!!!

It's been a busy weekend, but I have some great posts coming up for you this week!!

I also have a couple of amazing giveaways going on right now...

Little Passports, 3 month subscription ($41 value)

And make sure and check out some of my top posts

Week Three Weigh-In + Tips that are helping me lose the weight!

This has been an awesome week!
I've ran about 5 miles.
I've been doing my weight training with MyDFit.com.
Doing my push-up app on my phone
and really being mindful of what I'm eating.

When I started, I weighed 176
Last week, I weighed 174.5
This week, I weighed in at
172!

That's 4 pounds lost in about 3 weeks.
I'm pretty happy about that!!!

Beyond the numbers, I'm feeling much better.
I already feel skinnier in my clothes
I have a bit more energy
and I'm starting to really enjoy working out...again!

The family and I on an amazing hike this past weekend

Here is what has been working for me this week...

Drinking lots of water!
I got a comment last week from Melinda over at Organizing with a Side of Fabulous that said to drink water like it was my job. It's still hard for me to remember to always be drinking water...but I'm getting much better at it AND I keep reminding myself that it's now MY JOB to drink it!

Good snacks
I'm a really bad snacker.
On some days, every time I pass through the kitchen I think I need to get a little snack. I've been much better about that this past week and even bought (and made) some healthy snacks.
Cheese sticks and energy balls have been my two go-to's this week.
Try these energy balls from Gimme Some Oven...they are really good and super easy to make!

I love these because you can customize them to suit your tastes...mine don't have any coconut flakes in them. And I just threw all the ingredients into my stand mixer, they came together really quick!

Eat a Good Breakfast
I've been eating either high protein cereal that I picked up from Trader Joe's or these Protein Waffles from Heidi Powell's website (the wife of Chris Powell - the extreme weight loss guy!)

Protein Waffle

I'm not a fan of cottage cheese....at all.....but you'll never taste it in these waffles, they are so yummy! I made a triple batch and stuck them in the freezer. In the mornings, I just pop two in the toaster and breakfast is served!

Exercising
I have never been a fan of exercise. But after really finding some things that I think are fun....like running and weight lifting...I'm kind of starting to enjoy it.
I'm working out with MyDFit.com
(which you have to try - you'll love it...and by clicking on that link, you can get two weeks for free!)

And to keep me even more motivated to run, I think the hubby and I are going to sign up to run in the Susan G Komen 5K this October! He runs it every year, I've always been to scared...so this is the year!!

Woot Woot!!!!

I also wanted to say THANK YOU again for all of your comments. I really love reading them. They keep me motivated and are full of great ideas. I really...really appreciate it!

Are you working out...getting back in shape? Tell me what your secrets are!!
Thanks again - have a great Monday!
Hey - before you leave, would you please do me a favor and take this quick reader survey? Thanks!

Week Three Weigh In

I have no idea how this happen.
This week, I ate out pizza...
twice

I've barely been on the treadmill
or even working out
because I'm busy getting ready for our vacation

I just weighed myself
and I'm sitting at just under

174.5

So that's a half pound lost this week.
I'm lucky that it's down and not up!

Kind of disappointed in myself this week.
But need to keep my head up and tell myself to get back on the treadmill

This weekend we're on vacation
We rented a cabin and will take the kids to the water park
on paddle boats
and on some great hikes

I'm looking forward to working up a good sweat on those hikes!

Signing off for today - promise they'll be more next time!

Sam

Week Two: Monday Weight In

Last week I started my journey to lose some weight.
I think I've done pretty good this week!

I've been eating better...
drinking alot more water.

I checked out Bob Harper's The Skinny Rules from the library and have been reading it - great ideas for loosing weight!

I've been on the treadmill four days this week....

The other days, I've been walking the dog....

And I've been working the push-up app - here is day three -

(Sorry - forgot to shave! Had to cover it up!)

Now is time for the big weigh in....

Last Monday, I was 176 lbs
Today, I'm 175.

Hmmm....that sucks.

I'm not really sure how much I should be losing each week. I watch shows like "The Biggest Loser" and "Extreme Weight Loss" and those people are easily losing up to 10 pounds a week. I get that I'm not 400 pounds - but it seems like it should be more then a pound in one week.

I have been watching what I eat this week, but there have been a few late nights where the cravings were too much and I gave in. I bought some Chocolate Cheerios to help those chocolate cravings, and that helped.

This next week, I need to focus more on
1. Drinking MORE water.
2. Eating (a good) breakfast every morning.
3. I could stand to bump up my exercise some, but I think my biggest problem is food. Making sure I'm not doing any late-night snacking.
4. Weight training...check out the program from Dfit that I'm doing.

(Last week I had a great comment from Bethany about brushing my teeth after dinner! Great tip!)
I appreciated ALL of the comments last week!!! Thank You so much!

Thanks for checking in with me this week!

Make sure and follow me on Instagram and Facebook for daily updates!

Dfit Customized Fitness Solutions - Helping Me Reach My Goals!

If you're a regular follower of The Kitchen is My Dance Floor, you'll know that I've been working to get myself back in shape. Being new to working out, I'm not always sure what I should be doing.

Which exercises are the best for me?
How many reps?
How many times a week?

Last year, Chris and I joined a local gym. We decided to look into the personal trainers they offered.
I was shocked to find out the cost of a personal trainer.
$400 a month...and that was only working with him for about 45 minutes once a week!
And, I ended up canceling my membership (for $40 a month) because I never had time to go.
With two kids - things get a little hectic around here.

I was searching around for some alternatives to personal trainers and work-out DVDs and found MyDFit.com. Dynamic Fitness (Dfit) is an online, personal trainer - custom made just for you! You can use Dfit to create fully customized workout plans, learn proper exercise techniques, gain access to healthy recipes, and enjoy a vast resource of healthy living information.

What I loved about Dfit is that I could try it for free....and so can you!
They offer an amazing two week free trial
(and...no...they don't ask for your credit card number for the free trial either!)

Signing up for your trial period is super easy.
You'll answer a series of questions asking about your weight, what types of health conditions you have and if you currently exercise.

They also ask what your goals are...weight loss? Body Building? Cardiovascular health?
Mine are for weight loss, more energy and to be stronger!

After I was finished signing up, I was ready to get started with my first workout!
So exciting!!

To be completely honest with you...
when I say what my first workout was going to be, I thought that this program would be too easy.

Uh...no.
I just finished as I'm sitting here typing this and I'm still breathing hard.
And if you're lucky enough to be more in shape then I am...then you can adjust the settings to make your workout harder for you.

Each workout is laid out in video form.
You watch the people on the videos do the exercise and you do it along with them. They make sure and show you the correct form to do each move. And, if you have questions about how to do a move, they have a library of videos that you can go through to make sure you're doing everything right and don't get hurt.

I really love this idea.
As a stay at home mom, I can't always get out of the house at any kind of scheduled time to get the gym.
On some days, I have about 20 minutes of quiet time in the morning that I can work out.
Other days, it might not be until they go to bed.
With Dfit - I can workout anytime and they have a mobile app, so I can do it anywhere!

What I love even more is the price...$9.99 a month.
Look at all you get...

A mobile app, a food log, weekly audio and email messages to help keep you motivated and so much more.

They also have a section of recipes too, I'll be sharing some of these with you over the next several weeks.

Go on over now and get signed up for your free trial - you have NOTHING to lose.

Well...except weight, I guess. But that's a good thing.

You can also follow Dfit on Facebook, Twitter and I love their Pinterest page!

I was given a two month free subscription to Dynamic Fitness in exchange for a review. All opinions are 100% mine. I was not paid for this review or told what to say. It's all me!

What Happen? On the treadmill I go!

We had some friends over a couple of weekends ago
we took a couple of pictures.

Later, I saw this picture of me...

(that's me in the blue and my beautiful friend Donna)

I knew the pants were getting a little tight.
But I hadn't realized how much weight I've gained.

The biggest reason for the weight gain is that I stopped smoking this last October.
But I didn't think it was that much!!!

So I'm getting my butt on the treadmill!
I'm starting Couch to 5K today.
I've started this program a couple times before, but never finished it.

So, here's me putting it all out there...
starting weight today 176.

Ouch.

Last time I weighed myself, I was about 155.

I could say it's all muscle, right?

HAHAHA!! Not this time!
I've been eating everything, no will power at all.
Time to get back on track with eating right and working out.

Here's my plan to lose the weight..

Drink lots of water
Make better food choices...more chicken and fish. Less bread and cookies.
Run the full Couch to 5K program
Do the push-up app on my phone
Les Mills MMA workout video (bought it forever ago - loved it - didn't finish it)

Here's to Day One!
Wish me luck!
You can also follow me on Facebook for daily updates!
